Do not be duped by the Marriott Brand. This facility is run down, has extremely unprofessional front desk staff (not courteous), keys do not work after multiple attempts, and there was a roach looking bug in our room. The staff even stated “it is expected this time of year.” We left after 20 minutes.

Usually I am a very satisfied customer with the level of service at Marriott properties and I am also a Gold Member. However, my recent stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Smithfield/Selma, turned out to be very disappointing. During my stated stay, I was amazed by the complete lack of presence at the front desk for several hours. I had requested for a late check out and I was asked to come in person to the front desk in the morning. I came down about 8-10 times and waited for a long time without anyone manning the front desk for a period of about 5 hours. I asked one of the cleaners and she said she had no clue. The most bothersome item during my stay - main breakfast items were finished by 8:45 AM and there was no one there to refill Additionally, the overall cleanliness and decor left much to be desired. There was no coffee in the lobby, and when I inquired, I was told that the pots were being washed. But on returning several times, there was no pot or coffee. The general attitude of the staff was dismissive. I sent a strong feedback to Marriott, and they provided a standard of reply stating that I will hear from them in 5 days. Still waiting to hear after 3 weeks. I have, for now, cancelled my future stays at Marriott properties and reverted to IHG/Hilton.

We are rewards members and have been exclusively staying at Marriot properties whenever possible over the past 20 years. I have never encountered such an unpleasant front desk experience as I have with this hotel property. We needed a room after midnight due to a 5 hour delay while traveling. I called the hotel and the woman who answered the phone was unfriendly in her tone of voice when inquiring about making a reservation. She couldn't tell me if there was room availability, she couldn't book a room for us over the phone or in person. We called the main reservations line and booked a room. We didn't use rewards points and were full paying guests. Upon check in, the white female at the front desk with red hair (Nicky?) who was the same woman who I spoke on the phone with when inquiring about a room acted like she couldn't be bothered. She was on the phone with her airpods/ear phones. She was unfriendly and acted like we shouldn't be there. She told us that she most likely wouldn't be able to make room keys for us (really hitting home the point that we shouldn't be checking in after midnight). We got to our room and the view from the window is 85% obstructed. This room is one of two rooms obstructed by a view in the hotel. I think she purposely gave us this room as the parking lot was not full. The attitude and rude demeanor of Nicky was not appropriate for a hospitality position at a hotel. Sausage biscuits were hard and there were no eggs left at breakfast. The room was okay. The bed was comfortable. Hotel could use a refresh as it shows some wear and tear. With all of the hotel accommodations available on I-95, I would avoid this property. The front desk left us with the impression that they do not want guests there.

I do not recommend anyone staying at this hotel. It was absolutely disgusting. There were cockroaches in my room. The room smelled awful, the bed was uncomfortable, the TV was the tiniest TV that I’d ever seen in a hotel and the decor was hideous and dated. I stayed one night and the hotel charged me for two nights. I’ve been calling the hotel for over a week. No one will answer the phone, and the email address on the checkout receipt is not a valid email address. I had to file a dispute with my credit card due to their shady practices. Avoid this hotel at all cost!!

Wonderful stay. Clean restaurant, great staff. Kitchen ran out of some breakfast foods, and after I inquired about it the staff found more and fixed it. Very pleasant stay. We have another visit booked next week. There are also some nice restaurants in the area which makes it nice.

I’m usually the one who writes glowing reviews but this hotel was Very Disappointing. Staff was borderline rude on both check-in/check-out. Asked for water -was told no complimentary water for Gold members. Room was Very Dirty! Food remnants all around room and hairs in bathroom. Chair was filthy. Couldn’t sit in it. Bed covers were dirty. Refrigerator had a hair ball in it. The whole hotel needs a good cleaning. Breakfast was good, though. We will not stay here again.

Check in was just ok. The employee at the front desk was not super friendly nor accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The soap and conditioner bottles in the shower were empty. We stayed here in May and the indoor pool was closed for repairs and now in July it is still closed! Really? Don’t advertise that you have a pool if you’re going to keep it closed! There’s no coffee/tea service 24/7 where every other Marriott that I have stayed at has had this or infused water. What a disappointment. We have been staying at Marriott hotels since before 2012 we are lifetime Gold members and have seen a steady decline in the services and amenities. Every time we achieve a new level Marriott raises the bar!

Terrible experience. No hot water. Looks like they knew the shower was faulty and still put us in the room. Tv too small for room. Front desk rep Delsey was rude, insulting and did not attempt to solve the problem. My recommendation is to stay away from this hotel. A big damage to the Marriott brand. I will not recommend.

I've stayed at other Fairfield suites and this was by far the worst. When you walk in, there is an odor. I walked up to the desk to check in. Asked for water as the other Fairfields do give you bottles of water. They said they don't fo that, but gave me 2. Went to our room, had such an odor, it was bad. The room is old. I can deal with that, but not the cleanest. Went to the desk to ask about the smell, and they said, "open the window". Ok my husband looked at the filter and was filthy black which explains the odor. Next morning Went to breakfast and my husband needed water and again they said they don't do that but gave it to him. Meanwhile a lady came up and asked for a bag and proceeded to fill it with boxes of cereal while they watched and said nothing. Went back to room and my husband noticed something brown on the floor. Looked at it, and here it was a roach that he stepped on. Didn't tell me till now or for sure I would have asked for a refund. Don't stay here.if it wasn't that the Fairfield inn we usually stay at now accepts dogs, we would never have switched. Maybe now we will have to just keep on driving to get to our destination
